November 21 - 24, 2022
First, a huge
thank you to all of the parents and guardians who were able to meet with Mrs.
Cooper virtually or in person. It was wonderful to connect, share learning and
next steps.
Mrs. Cooper would
also like to thank Mr. Quinn for leading teaching this last week while she was
recovering, and to the students for demonstrating their LBS and Montessori
virtues. Mr. Quinn shared that our class was the best class that he has had in
a very long time. Way to go Room 6!!
This week we
worked on many things:
- Continuing
to explore the qualities of interesting and exciting personal narratives and
implementing some of those qualities into our writing.
- Listening
to books read by Mr. Quinn and doing a “first”, “next”, “then” retell with an
illustration caption.
- Reading
and exploring about tectonic plates and the formation of mountains to lead into
our learning about rocks and minerals, and landforms in Alberta and around the
world.
- Observing
or worm decomposition, what worms eat and some research into worms as we
continue to care for our class worms and observe the process of how nature
deals with natural waste.
- Exploring
various addition strategies and comparing how they are the same, different and
which ones are more efficient. We also used our knowledge of estimation to
determine if our answer is reasonable when we are finding sums.
- Learning
to sketch mountain landscapes in Art, and how to use layering to show
perspective.
Of course there was lots more as our weeks are so full.
Ms. Kawchuck
wanted to remind our families that the date for the Winter Concert this year
will be on Thursday, December 15th.
There will be two different performances and the viewing for our class will be at 7:30pm.
Sunday, November
27th is also the last day for our virtual book fair. If you would
