We want to send a huge thank you to Ms. Kawchuk for all the work she put into our fabulous Winter concert, and to all our grown-ups, friends and family for coming to watch us perform. We put a lot of effort into rehearsals this week, and were so excited to be able to show our skills. We are also happy to share that we have rebuilt our Wishtree! We used what we learned the first time to reinforce and reattach the branches and to strengthen the base. However, we discovered that it was harder to repair our tree than it was to build it the first time, because we had to be more careful to not break the parts that were already built. It meant that we needed even more teamwork and cooperation than the first time. Our tree just needs a little more paper to cover up some of the repairs but we are happy to have it towering in our room once again. In math, we began the week counting coins. We then made price tags for objects around the room and practiced finding the correct amount of money to

It was a different week for us in Room 6… because we were actually in Room 5 for part of the week. We were very excited that our room was being painted, but it meant that we could not be in our room until Thursday. Fortunately, Ms. Bouchard and all the students of Room 5 welcomed us into their space. We had a great time learning with new peers and demonstrating the expectations and responsibilities we have when we are guests in others’ spaces. We really loved making thank you cards for Ms. Bouchard’s class and leaving them as a surprise for them. We also continued to explore our role as leaders with our Kindergarten Buddies. We made snowflakes with them but focused on our role as mentors and providing support. The grade threes explored the question 'How does your role as a buddy differ from your role as a classmate?' One grade three student shared: “ You have to inspire them and you have to show them greatness actions. You have to be appropriate because if you don’t, they are

Our class cannot believe that it is December already! As always there are lots of exciting things happening in our room. The most exciting is that our room is being painted next week. On Friday, we all needed to work together to tidy up our space, pack up what we need and shift some things so that the painters can get to where they need to be. Our class even went the extra mile, sweeping up behind where shelves were and dusting the room. We discussed why it is important to contribute and do our part. As you know it was a cold week, and so we had a lot of indoor recesses and one indoor physical education. We explored active living options that we can do indoors and how we can use movement and rhythm to support active living. We did “Just Dance” in our classroom and really got our heart rates up!! In math, we looked at the learning intentions “I can choose addition and subtraction strategies based on the nature of the number” and “I can use the standard algorithm for subtraction”.
