This week we focused on writing, putting all the skills we learned this year into one narrative. After visualizing & planning, we did a rough copy of our ideas. Mrs. Cooper noticed that many of us are much more confident in our writing and our ability to express our ideas. We then used our revising and editing checklists to refine our work. Ask us what we wrote about!

We are busy getting ready for our fish release on Wednesday! It’s hard to believe it’s time to let them go already. This week, Sarah from the Fish In e program came to our school to learn about our inquiry. She said we are taking great care of our fish and they look so healthy! She also answered many questions we had about our fish and the work we have been doing.

Please remember that our trip is on Wednesday. Mrs. Cooper still needs one more volunteer. If you are able to join us and have your Police Clearance done with the office, please email her to let her know.

Also be sure to ask us about:

  • Our three days of Netball and how to play;
  • How to find perimeter and area of a rectangle and what kind of units area is measured in and why;
  • Our tower garden and how our plants are growing;
  • The ending to our Song For a Whale novel and about 52 Blue; and
  • Our favorite part of the week.

Finally, Mrs. Cooper would like to ask all of the grade 4s to please bring in a flashlight if possible. We are beginning our exploration of Light and Shadows and it will be helpful if each grade 4 student has a flashlight they can use. It is best if the flashlight is fairly strong so we can conduct our experiments to learn about the properties of light. We will label each with tape and then send them home in about two weeks. The grade 3s are beginning their exploration of Hearing and Sound. If possible, Mrs. Cooper would like the grade 3s to bring in something that creates a sound in a unique way. It can be something homemade and/or very simple like a washed plastic food container or a small box and some elastic bands. The intention is to be something small that we can explore and that will be sent back home in a week or two. If you have questions, please let Mrs. Cooper know.
